Services:
For psychosocial issues such as
temperamental, family, relationship, job, and behavioral difficulties
our psychologist and social worker colleagues are a more cost
effective source of care. If your therapists or physicians suspect
that you might have a "chemical imbalance" along other psychosocial
issues, seeing a psychiatrist is warranted. Although medication
management is an important part of my practice, I can not only do
medication management. Listening to your description of challenges you
face/d in life is my job, until you have overcome your excessive
symptoms and able to live with mild ones!
Comprehensive evaluation of
biological, psychological, and social factors that might contribute to
one's distress. For patients without any neurological signs, a
comprehensive evaluation is often more informative than many costly
and exotic brain imaging tests.
Based on patient's need to include
individual, family, and group therapy. The session usually range form
30 to 45 minutes and include therapeutic and administrative part of
your care.
For other providers such as primary
care physicians, psychologists, and social workers, who refer patients
that have not responded adequately to routine interventions.
Office based short term
detoxification for motivated and medically stable patients who are
dependent on alcohol, Benzodiazepine, and opiate. Short term
Bupernorhpine treatment is among the options for individuals addicted
to opiates.
Attention Deficit Disorder Testing
Personality traits screening
based on 100 questions consistent with DSM criteria for patients who
psychiatrically have returned to their baseline but still have long
lasting interpersonal difficulties.
Evaluation of achievement potential
based on Wechsler Intelligent Scale WAIS III for ages 16-89,
WISC IV for ages 6-16, and CPT II and Conner's for attention
deficit.
Presentations on various mental
health themes such as disease, personality, behavior, life events,
creativity, treatment response, etc. for health care facilities and
professionals.
Modified version of such
presentations for the community.
Practice of medicine is often based
on combining science and art; while the former is constant among
practitioners, the later varies based on style, experience, and
opinion. Most patients refer to me might have signs of affective
disorder spectrum which ranges form mild symptoms of dysthymia and
cyclothymia to severe symptoms of melancholia and psychotic mania. In
the long run, these disorders usually respond better to
antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and neuroleptics. With this in
mind, and due to their dependency potential, I rather avoid
prescribing stimulants, benzodiazepines, and narcotic pain medications
except for detoxification. Of course some patients have benefited and
continue to benefit form such medications. If you need any medications
with dependency potential in the long run, you are best served to see
an expert with subspecialty in in ADHD/ADD, anxiety disorders, and
chronic pain respectively.
For the patients
refereed by Blue Cross, PacifiCare, and MHN we will bill the insurance
directly. Other patients are also welcome to be evaluated and treated;
however, they will be responsible for obtaining compensation form
their insurances for paid visits. Please notify our staff, if you have
financial limitations for a discount from 10% to 30% based on a
sliding scale. Usually insurances do not compensate for phone session
and medication refill without a formal visits. Please keep you
appointment or cancel them 48 hours ahead of time in order not to be
billed for them.
